The calm before the storm

It's hard to believe that in just a few days, my life will be changing in a way that only a few months ago, I would have said was impossible.  These last few months have seen many changes in me.  From doing the thing that consumed me for virtually my entire life, to devoting nearly all of my time to my kids at the Minnetonka Swim Club, to working endless hours at the MN State Fair, to moving my entire life out of my home for the last five years, and ultimately to my new life and home for the next year.  At each of these stages I have unfortunately had to say goodbye to many good friends, not knowing where and when I will see them again.  All I can say is that I hope to hear from all of you throughout the year and to see you one day soon.

At the same time, as the packing begins and the hour grows nearer, I now realize it's REAL!  This last weekend, my brother Brendan and I traveled to Denver for a weekend of fun with our other brother, Chris.  We had a great time being together, which doesn't happen very often anymore.  Going out, watching football, and hanging with Kim, Juno, family, and several of Chris's friends were just a few of the things we did.  We got a little crazy one night as we sometimes do when we're together and enjoyed Husker and Bronco victories among fellow supporters.  Not to mention an 3-0 start by my Gophers!  I hope that Chris and Brendan are able to come visit at some point this year.

For now the rest of my days here at home in Nebraska are spent with packing, more goodbyes, and trying to relax as much as possible.  For all of you who do not know more of my exact plans, I am leaving Omaha on Sunday afternoon, flying to Chicago, where I will meet Russ, and then hopping on a plane to Munich.  There we will spend about five days.  I don't know what my internet accessibility will be.  Hopefully I will be able to post while I am there, otherwise I will have to wait until I finally make it to Spain after our time in Munich.
